Course Overview
In recent years, traditional endodontics has evolved into a minimally invasive procedure, also referred to as Micro-Endodontics. Micro-Endodontics ensures the minimal removal of dentin, in order to limit the tooth from weakening and promote long-term retention.
The difficulty of this approach lies in achieving a “micro access” and locating all the canals, as well as widening, shaping, irrigating, and completing a successful root canal and coronal filling. This course aims to review some of the challenges presented by this new era of endodontics, while giving some tips and tricks to avoid accidents and complications during treatment that will ultimately lead to re-treatment.
Learning Objectives:
- Clinical and radiographic examination: diagnosis and case analysis.
- Accessing the cavity and location of all the canals: approach and instruments required.
- Instrumentation/Isolation: various equipment and materials available, and improvements over recent years.
- Endodontic irrigation: to effectively dissolve all organic tissue, complicated anatomies, webs and fins where access is limited.
- Root canal sealing: hands-on workshop with the use of cordless obturation devices and sealant review, discussion on Bioceramic Materials.
- Coronary temporization: review of post and core materials, internal bleaching.
